Meissen
A catalogue of 250,000 porcelain items
Meissen, the porcelain with the crossed blue swords, has become the established symbol of luxurious savoir vivre - already since the first half of the 18th century. Quality and purity are the trademarks of Meissen. It is inconceivable that the delicate patterns and ornaments would be applied in any other manner than by hand. That is what makes each piece unique. Tiny differences in details, mostly hardly noticeable, emphasise the authenticity of Meissen porcelain.
Around 150,000 items can be made to order. In addition, documents and moulds for another 100,000 items are available in the archives. New items are constantly being added to the product line in the Meissen workshops.
Meissen has produced several famous series, such as “Die Affenkapelle” (“The Monkey Orchestra”), a collection of 21 multicoloured porcelain monkey musicians made in 1753. Another unique item is the “Jahrhundertkollektion” (“Century Collection”), which was issued in 1999. Only 19 copies of each of these 99 decorative pieces (vases, plates, terrines, figurines and so on) were produced.
