Herend
Elegant porcelain from Hungary
The Hungarian firm Herend was founded in 1826 by Vince Stingl as an earthenware factory. Stingl was persistently plagued by a shortage of capital and went bankrupt several times. The factory ultimately came into the hands of his creditor Mór Fischer, who established the name and fame of Herend as a producer of elegant porcelain. Shortly after he took over the factory, it headed the list of the largest firms in the county of Veszprém.
Herend now exports its porcelain to 58 countries distributed over the entire world. Its most important markets are the USA, Japan and Italy.
